"Buck" is from working lines and loves to have a job. Although he doesn't have any formal training, he is a natural when it comes to herding. We don't use him to work sheep or cattle (because we don't own any), but we do use him on the horses. I know that sounds silly! We bring our mares and foals down to the barn at night and turn them out in the morning in a pasture that is about a tenth of a mile away from the barn. The foals like to be independent and don't always want to follow mom. That's where Buck comes into play. He keeps them practically on top of mom just by herding, he never barks or nips at them. He just started doing this one day, and when I saw how helpful it was, I started teaching him commands. Within 2 days he was working them like a pro!

"Jackie" likes helping Buck herd the horses, but would rather "herd the kids." She's a sweet heart and loves attention. When the kids are out playing in the yard, she'll very seldom leave their side, especially the youngest one
